TRAFFIC AND DROP OFF LOOP SAFETY REMINDERS

Thank you to all drivers in our San Marco school community who continue to drive with great caution near the school grounds.

A few friendly reminders:

At End of Day Dismissal:

At the end of the day no vehicles are to enter the school parking lot We have children leaving the school grounds and school buses entering to pick up children in the drop off zone / bus loop and it is simply too busy for vehicles to be going in and out of the school parking lot.  This would create a safety hazard for our students and community.  We are asking all parents who drive/accompany their children to school to continue to park their cars in a safe location and use sidewalks and walking paths when entering the school grounds.    Thank you.

In the Morning:

Should you decide to use the bus loop in front of the school, it is understood that you cannot park your car or leave it unattended at any time. Please note you cannot walk your child to the school yard if you are using this loop. Students who use this loop will then make their own way to the back of the school using only the sidewalk/path as the end of the loop. They are not allowed to go through the school building. For safety, students/pedestrians must not cut through the parking lot as this is unsafe and are asked to use the sidewalks and paths, whenever possible.

Please do not pass vehicles that are unloading students as this poses a serious safety concern. Treat it like a “drive thru”. Please move your vehicle as close as you can to the stop sign, rather than stopping in front of the doors when unloading your child even if there are no cars in front of you and please keep goodbyes brief. This will help prevent any backlog of vehicles that spill onto the street waiting to come in.

Drivers are reminded to continue to be vigilant and cautious of students who are crossing the sidewalk on either side of the loop and to obey all traffic/safety signs clearly displayed as well as the STOP sign which is located at the end of the loop.  Many thanks for your continued cooperation in this regard.

We need your collective cooperation to make student safety a priority.  Together we can make our school community safe for everyone. Our sincere thanks to all for your continued cooperation and support.  Your continued cooperation is deeply appreciated.  Thank you.
