ALLERGY SAFETY

Anaphylaxis

We will continue to take a proactive approach to make our school a safe environment for our students with life-threatening allergies.   Because anaphylaxis can be life-threatening, our entire school is allergy aware. Students will not be permitted to share or distribute snacks.  In accordance with our School Allergy Awareness Plan, please do not send any snacks to be shared for celebrations, special days (e.g. Valentine’s, Christmas, etc. ) including birthdays. Please help us to keep San Marco Allergy Aware and Nut-Safe by providing snacks and lunches for your child that do not contain any traces of nuts or nut products and that are made in a nut free facility.  In addition to nuts and nut products, your child’s classroom may have additional allergies. Your child’s homeroom teacher will send home a letter indicating any additional life-threatening allergies present in your child’s class.  We ask that you please do not bring those foods to the school in order to keep all students safe.

If your child has a life-threatening allergy or other medical condition, please ensure that you communicate this to the school and that all forms are completed and returned to the school along with EPI pens.  If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Please see the attached school letter as well Policy 209.  Thank you for your continued cooperation in this matter.
