February is Black History Month

The upcoming month of February is recognized throughout Canada as a time to celebrate the sacrifices, legacy and contributions of Black Canadians, past and present.  Throughout February students will participate in a variety of discussions and grade-level lessons that focus on diversity and equity and inclusion and our Teacher-Librarian will continue online lessons that focus on Black History Month.  Black History Month gives everyone the opportunity to share, celebrate and understand the impact of black heritage and culture.  It also gives us an important opportunity to understand and appreciate the struggles and systemic barriers Black and racialized people have confronted and continue to confront in our society.  We look forward to these wonderful learning opportunities!
